Darroze Armagnac

Darroze is a family-run Armagnac house from Gascony, closely associated with Bas-Armagnac and the region's tradition of small estates, long ageing and highly individual brandies. The business was founded in 1974 by Francis Darroze, building on the family's hospitality roots and deep relationships with growers and cellars across south-west France.

Rather than operating only as a conventional distiller, Darroze is best known as a specialist négociant-éleveur: selecting, ageing and bottling Armagnacs from individual domaines, often with remarkable precision around estate, vintage and maturation. This gives the range a strong sense of traceability, allowing drinkers to explore the diversity of Armagnac through single-estate and vintage releases as well as carefully composed blends.

The portfolio includes the Les Grands Assemblages range, with age statements from younger, fruit-led expressions to older, more contemplative bottlings, alongside rare vintage and domaine-specific Armagnacs. The house style is broad rather than uniform, but often shows the generous fruit, spice, tobacco, polished oak and rustic elegance that make mature Armagnac so compelling.

Darroze offers a thoughtful route into one of France's great brandy traditions. It is especially rewarding for drinkers who enjoy provenance and individuality: not just Armagnac as a category, but Armagnac understood through place, cask and time.
