Green Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey produced at Midleton Distillery in County Cork for Mitchell & Son, the Dublin wine and spirits merchant whose whiskey-bonding heritage dates back to the nineteenth century. Now part of the broader Spot family, it remains one of the most recognisable examples of Ireland's traditional pot still style.
Crafted from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in copper pot stills, Green Spot is typically matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks. The outcome is a whiskey with a rounded, gently spicy texture and a bright, orchard-fruit character, often displaying green apple, pear, vanilla, toasted oak and sweet cereal notes.
While it carries no formal age statement, Green Spot is generally understood as a vatting of mature pot still whiskeys in the younger end of the Spot range. It sits alongside Yellow Spot, Red Spot and Blue Spot, delivering the freshest and most approachable expression of a historic Irish whiskey style.
