Paul John is an Indian single malt whisky from Goa, produced by John Distilleries and named after the company's founder, Paul P. John. First launched internationally in the early 2010s, it has become one of the leading names in India's modern single malt movement, combining traditional copper pot distillation with a flavour profile shaped by the country's climate and raw materials.
The whisky is crafted with Indian six-row barley and matured in Goa's warm, tropical conditions, where casks develop quickly and the angel's share is notably high. This gives Paul John a generous, concentrated character, often displaying ripe tropical fruit, honeyed malt, spice, vanilla and toasted oak, with peated expressions adding a drier, coastal smoke.
The range features approachable core bottlings such as Nirvana, Brilliance, Edited and Bold, alongside Select Cask releases, annual Christmas editions, single casks and more limited prestige expressions including Kanya and Mithuna.
