Delamain is one of Cognac's most quietly distinguished houses, specialising exclusively in mature Grande Champagne expressions. Founded in Jarnac in 1824, the maison has long been associated with an understated, refined style where age, balance and aromatic complexity take precedence over overt oak or sweetness.
Rather than operating as a large vineyard-based producer, Delamain is recognised for sourcing exceptional eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne and ageing, reducing and bottling them in-house with considerable care. This approach has helped define a house style characterised by finesse, length and clarity, with mature notes of dried fruit, citrus peel, spice and rancio delivered with notable lightness.
The house remains closely connected to the Delamain family, with Charles Braastad, a direct descendant of James Delamain, leading the maison while also serving as cellar master.
